Longsong is John and Lisa van Haandel’s (of Longrain) second bar/restaurant based on Little Bourke Street above Longrain. The use of the arrow invites customers upstairs to experience a modern bar with richness and a fusion of asian cuisine. Acknowledging the buildings history and modernising this with the use of a contemporary typeface that has strong lineages to grotesque typefaces (a family of 19th-century sans serif typefaces). The soaring ceilings and open floor plan dictated the use of negative space, creating a harmonious balance throughout the collatoral. Creating an identity that sits alongside the space it lives in, provides Longsong with a highly adaptable system.
